When I decided to visit Serbia, I thought it would be an undiscovered corner of Europe for me. The moment I stepped into Belgrade, I immediately began to feel the energy of the city. The weather was a bit chilly, but the lively streets of Belgrade drew me in right away. My first stop was the Belgrade Fortress. Walking through its historic atmosphere while overlooking the Sava River and the cityscape from above was truly captivating. As I wandered through the fortress, the ancient stones seemed to whisper the city’s history to me. In that moment, I realized that in this city, the past and modernity blend together seamlessly. The next day, I decided to take a train to Novi Sad. It felt like stepping into a completely different world. Visiting Petrovaradin Fortress gave me a new perspective on the city. Looking out from the fortress walls, I could see vast valleys and the sky stretching far into the distance. Novi Sad’s tranquility was in stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of Belgrade. As I walked through the city, I encountered warm and friendly locals. In every city I visited in Serbia, the hospitality I experienced felt more like a friendship than mere politeness.

I also can’t forget the food I ate in Serbia. Local dishes like ćevapi, pljeskavica, and sarma were an absolute discovery for me. It wasn’t just a meal it was a cultural experience. Every bite felt like a taste of history and tradition. Particularly during dinners, the conversations in the local restaurants helped me understand the spirit of the country.

Of course, Serbia’s natural beauty was another story. The country’s landscapes are more serene compared to the cities, but equally impressive. When I visited Niš, I explored archaeological sites and Roman ruins, feeling the ancient history beneath my feet. I also spent time in Tara National Park, immersing myself in nature. The hours I spent among mountains, forests, and rivers offered a sense of peace like no other.

Traveling is sometimes not an escape, but an opportunity to understand

life itself more deeply.

One day, I had planned to experience the EXIT Festival in Novi Sad. That was when I discovered another side of Serbia. Music, dance, and fun filled the air, and the festival’s energy was contagious. Thousands of people gathered to celebrate, and I found myself drawn into the lively atmosphere. People of all ages and musical tastes came together to enjoy the event. It wasn’t just a festival; it was a cultural experience. Serbia proved to be a budget friendly yet incredibly rich travel destination. My travel expenses were quite reasonable, but every moment was packed with experiences. I had no trouble with transportation, as flights to Belgrade were frequent, and the public transport system, with buses and trams, was well-organized.

Serbia truly impressed me with both its cultural heritage and natural beauty. If you’re looking to explore a new destination in Europe, I highly recommend visiting this country. With its blend of history, nature, and entertainment, every corner offers a new surprise. Visiting Serbia felt like discovering the hidden side of Europe.
